Facts and Events
Willard Warren McCartney is the son of Arthur C. and Christina S. Cutter McCartney. He was born in Barberton Summit Co. Ohio. He married Adela Ruth Ogilvie on the 2 of November in 1935 in Newark, Licking Co., Ohio. Willard and Ruth had two children, James R. McCartney and Thomas C. McCartney. Mack proceeded Tom in death by 6 months. Willard was known by his friends and family as Mack/Mac. Willard worked for the East Ohio Gas Company. He was on the job and in the area when the great East Ohio Gas Company fire started on October 17, 1944. Thankfully he survived, but another 130 people were killed that day and a whole neighborhood was gone. He retired for the Gas Company when he was 57 years old. Which gave him plenty of time to enjoy what he loved most and that was his orchard and truck farm. He put so much love into that farm you could taste it in his produce. The farm was on Route 6 (Euclid Chardon Rd.) Kirtland Ohio about a mile east of the intersection of 306 and 6 on the north side of the road. Mack was a benevolent man. He helped many that were in need. He was a member of Old South United Church of Christ in Kirtland Ohio. Mack died on 3 Aug 1996. He is greatly missed by his family and friends.
