    PELLA - Wilbert Gerrit Vande Lune, 83, of Pella, died Thursday, Dec. 20, at Pella Regional Health Center.

    His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Covenant Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. John H. Piersma officiating. Burial: Black Oak Cemetery, Pella, Mahaska County. Visiting hours are open today at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. Memorials: Building Fund of Covenant Reformed Church in Pella. Relatives and friends are invited back to the church following the commital service.

    Wilbert Gerrit "Bill" Vande Lune was born July 17, 1918, near Monroe, to William and Lena Vander Wiel Vande Lune. He attended country grade school near Prairie City.

    He married Genevieve Drewes on Aug. 25, 1942, in Muskegon, Mich. They began farming near Cedar. In 1950 they moved to a farm west of New Sharon, where they lived until moving east of Pella in 1953; they farmed there until moving into Pella in 1976. Bill enjoyed farming and raising livestock, and was a good storyteller and imitator. He was a member of Covenant Reformed Church in Pella.

    He is survived by four children and spouses: David and Darlene Vande Lune of Pella, Norma and Gilbert Christiansen of Altoona, Ronald Vande Lune of Pella and Joyce and Rick Place of Pella; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, two brothers and their spouses: Frances Van Haaften, Leonard and Esther Vande Lune, Marvin and Mary Lou Vande Lune and Shirley and Joe Schutte, all of Pella; and a brother-in-law, Merle Kallemyn of Holland, Mich.

    He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dana Vande Lune; his parents; an infant brother; and two sisters: Gertrude Van Dyke and Ruth Kallemyn.
