    16. DR. WALTER SMITH, of Georgetown, D.C., died in Georgetown 29 August, 1796. In the Revolution he was a surgeon in the Maryland Militia, 1776-77 (Heitman's Register). He married Esther Belt (b. 1744 ; d. 21 March, 1814) daughter of Col. Joseph Belt (b. 1716 ; d. 16 June, 1793) of Montgomery County, and Esther his wife (b. 1722 ; d. 12 July, 1796) daughter of William Smith of Prince George's County. ...
