Walter Godsmark was baptised on 11th March 1866 at Crawley in Sussex, son of Susan Godsmark, formerly Bryant, and her husband George Godsmark, a labourer and bricklayer.

Sadly, Walter died when he was only about nineteen months old, being buried at Crawley on 27th October 1867. His elder brother had died earlier that month, suggesting there may have been an illness in the family, leaving their parents temporarily childless again.
