Ginny was the daughter of William Patterson of Knox County Kentucky. She married Daniel Duncan Carnes of South Carolina. Together they had 3 sons that I know of. Abner, Thomas and John Fletcher.

As written in Escoe Smith's Book: Who We Are.........Mary Jane Bingham, gr-dau. of Thomas Carnes tells this story to K.S.Sol Warren. Before 1800 probably 1795, a young man by the name of Carnes, was on his way West and happened to stop and spend some time at the Patterson Family on Stinking Creek. The young man married a girl of the Patterson Family. The couple went after their marriage, apparently back to his home in South Carolina. There they lived and had 4 sons, Abner, Thomas, Fletcher and John. As described by his gr-granddaughter he was High tempered and of an Irish descent. He wasted a lot of time and money on cockfighting and gambling. When his wife spoke to him on the matter he flew into a rage! This she rescented. One day shortly after the turn of the century she announced she was returning to her family the Patterson's in Ky. She brought with her Abner and Thomas, leaving Fletcher and John with him. The mother of Abner and Thomas was a dau. of William Patterson. The family lived where now is The Lend-A-Hand Center is on Stinking Creek.
