Obituary: Died, Sunday, March 24th, 1878, in the 25th year of her age, Violet, wife of Daniel B. Hatfield.
The rude hand of death has again been laid upon the family of our friend and neighbor, and as it is said "death seeks a shining mark," so in this instance has a family been bereft of a tender-loving companion, a kind and gentle mother, and society robbed of one of its brightest ornaments. For her bereaved companion we drop the sympathizing tear, and pray that God, in his infinite mercy, may grant that the mantle of virtue, so long sustained by the mother, may descend upon the twice-orphaned children. To the community so suddenly bereft of a member, let us try to emulate her example, and meet her in that land where flowers never fade. "Another flower is gone, transplanted to bloom forever upon the banks of the river of life that flows forth from the throne of God."
