    Mrs. Vertie Tyrer
    Hiawatha-Mrs. Vertie Tyrer, 82, formerly of Hiawatha, died Friday, Feb. 8, at a Yuma, Ariz. nursing home.
    She was born June 8, 1902, at Kaiser, Mo., the daughter of Daniel and Nellie Jeffries Barnett. She spent most of her life in Kansas until she moved to Yuma in December 1978 to be near a son.
    Mrs. Tyrer was a member of First Christian Church in Hiawatha.
    She was married to Harry L. Tyrer Feb. 25, 1925, at Hiawatha. He died Aug. 14, 1975.
    Survivors include a son, Lewis Tyrer, Yuma, Ariz.; three sisters, Mrs. Erma Burns, Fremont, Neb., Mrs. Gertrude Bangert, Omak, Wash., and Mrs. Louella Katz, Everest; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Casselman-Meek Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Hiawatha. Mrs. Tyrer will lie in state after noon Tuesday at the funeral home where memorial contributions may be made to Brown County Chapter of American Heart Association.
