Obituary[6] 10 Nov 1981 Vernard D. Hewey, 71, of 35 Winter St., Auburn, died Monday noon at home after a long illness.
He was born at Phillips, Jan. 23, 1910, the son of Everett L. and Esma Harnden Hewey.
Educated in Auburn schools, he was married in Lewiston, Jan. 28, 1936, to the former Pauline R. Duran, who survives.
For many years he was employed at the old Federal Shoe Co. in Lewiston and during World War II worked at Bath Iron Works. He was employed for 15 years at Hill Mill in Lewiston until his retirement.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Verlene Spears of Auburn and Susanne Reid of Ventura, Calif.; two sons, Peter of East Sumner and James of Clinton; three brothers, Merlton Harradon of Wales and Frank and Donald Harradon of Monmouth; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.

HEWEY -- In Auburn, November 9, 1981, Vernard D. Hewey, age 71. Husband of the former Pauline R. Duran. Funeral services will be held from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son, Wednesday, November 11 at 10 a.m. The interment will be at the Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. Friends may call at the Chapel, Tuesday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
