    Verdi passed away peacefully. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 52 years Marie in May of 1983. Verdi is survived by his children and their families, Connie Kendrick (John), Deanne Hankins (Don) and Steve Boyer (Colleen). Verdi has eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Verdi and Marie lived in the Los Angeles area most of their lives both graduating from Huntington Park High School. Verdi played football at UCLA and received "All American" honors in 1934. He was the first player from UCLA to go to the National Football League. Verdi played professional football for approximately ten years retiring at age 34 in 1945. He then embarked on a long and distinguished career in oil tool and equipment sales working in the "Oil Patch" of California and other oil rich states. Services are Sunday Ju ne 1, 2003 at 1:00 PM at the Rainbow Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Assoc. are suggested.
