Jameson, Elizabeth (Matchett) was born October 15, 1861 in a log cabin on a farm near Newton, Iowa and was the daughter of David and Jean (Hill) Matchett. She attended the rural school near Newton and the Hazel Dell Academy in Newton. Elizabeth went to Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois for one year and graduated from Washington Academy in Washington, Iowa in 1886. She taught for many years in Iowa and Illinois. Elizabeth married William Jameson of Hanover in 1889 and two daughters were born to this union; Mrs. William T. McClenahan and Emily McGrew. After the marriage the family moved to Hanover township. After the death of William in 1897, Elizabeth moved first to the village of Hanover and later to Monmouth so her daughters could further their education. Elizabeth later moved to Chicago and became part of the David and Jennie Matchett family. Elizabeth died March 3, 1937 in Chicago and is buried in Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
