"Uriah Oakes was a cousin of Captain Jonathan, and was born in Malden, April 14, 1735. After his marriage with Agnes Kent, at Malden, in 1756, he removed to Boston, where, at the time of his death, he had a house in South Street, near Wheeler's Point. He was a sea captain, and was owner in several privateers; but I cannot identify him as the commander of any armed vessel. He died in March, 1788, his wife having died in the previous March. He left no children, and one-quarter of his estate was willed to his brother Nehemiah and nephew Uriah, of Malden. The remainder was left to his kinsman, Captain Uriah Green, of Boston, who is called Uzziah in the Boston Directory of 1796. " [citing Suffolk Probate 87:150]
