Little evidence of this child's existence

Anderson^[1] quotes an account compiled in 1777 that mentions a child who died shortly after the death of its mother, John's first wife. Anderson discounts the story (saying "the claim of a second child with the first wife cannot be relied on"), since the year of immigration is incorrect and the story might have applied to someone else.
