According to the 150th Anniversary booklet (1840-1990) of St. John's Lutheran Church at White Creek; the three brothers emigrated from a German State (probably the Kingdom of Hannover) to Baltimore (the usual route for emigrants from Hannover who sailed from Bremen). Then they traveled down the Ohio River, and settled in a German community in Hamilton Co., Ohio (probably near Cincinnati, Ohio).

Fred married Anna Marie Surenkemper (Surenkamp). Henry married Elisabeth Schepmann, and Barney married Elisa Katharine Linchtemburg, also while in Ohio.

All three families moved to WEGAN (Euchretown) in Jackson County, Indiana in 1845. The families became members of St. John's Lutheran Church at White Creek, instead of the nearby St. John's Lutheran Church (at "Sauers"), which remains a mystery (to 1990). The family currently in the "White Creek" area is descended from Fred born January 6, 1817 (an error?), and Anna Marie born November 13, 1822. The family eventually moved to the "Borchers" community, and left St. John's to become members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

At the time of World War I, the community was very hostile toward the German ancestry, so the descendants of Henry and Fred changed the spelling of their surname to Claycamp. The descendants of Barney changed the spelling to Klakamp, and many are living in the Seymour area.

According to the Garland-Brook Cemetery CD's, there were no CLAYCAMPS listed in the cemetery (before circa 2010).
