[Note: this source is an abstract of NSDAR grave information, so presumably a summary of this original record, or some representation of it, claiming location of his grave in Worcester Old Common Burial Ground, "Born in Worcester August 12, 1739; died April 4, 1790". However, the Find A Grave citation makes its seems likely there is no gravestone, and most secondary sources appear to accept the death date of 31 Mar 1790. All of this suggests this is from a cemetery record, and 4 Apr 1790 is presumably the burial date, not the death date. As usual, the birth record contemporary to his birth is considered more reliable than information recorded a lifetime later. Source:Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. Epitaphs from the Cemetery on Worcester Common, with Occasional Notes, References, and an Index, p. 22 (here, image 23), gives the inscription (#237) “Timothy Bigelow, Esq , commander of the 15th Massa- chusetts Regt in the Revolutionary War with Great Britain;” b. Aug. 12, 1739; d. Ap. 4, 1790; a. 50. “Here lie his remains.”, whose quote arrangement makes it clear the dates were not part of the inscription.]
