    (3) Thomas Wilcox, the eldest of William's seven children, who was born there August 28, 1757 [1758?], married Keziah Bennett, and died there May 26, 1843. Thomas Wilcox was the last survivor of an adventurous band of forty men who, under Colonel Barton, captured General Prescott, a British officer, in Rhode Island during the Revolution, and conveyed his safely to Warwick. This was on July 9, 1777. Mr. Wilcox was stationed at Tiverton, near Howland's Ferry, during most of the war, and afterward engaged in farming. He had eleven children: ...
