- Walker, Thomas - born 11/25/1760 in Orange County, Virginia, son of James & Joyce; entered service there 1780 in Virginia regiment; soldier severely wounded in arm at Battle of Gates Defeat & discharged 1780; granted Pension 1833 in Orange County, Virginia, when had resided in same house since Revolutionary War; per County Justice of the Peace John Booton; clergyman James Long & James P. Sims made affidavit there then per County Court Clerk Reynolds Chapman; John Garrett made affidavit then there he was Revolutionary War soldier & met soldier in North Carolina, when soldier was recovering from battle wound; soldier died 4/2/1824; married 8/1783-84 Messeniah Powell in Orange County, Virginia; widow granted Pension 1841 in Greene County, Virginia, age 75, unable to come to court because of bodily infirmity, per County Justice of the Peace James Fitzhugh; Zachariah Taylor made affidavit there then age 72 that he'd known soldier & wife for 60+ years; widow resided 1843 there age 77 per County Justice of the Peace Oliver Finks; Joseph Taylor made affidavit there then; widow's son James made affidavit there in 1847 to give following data from family bible on parents children's births, per County Justice of the Peace Joel Jarrell & County Court Clerk Robert Pritchett: Elizabeth [born] 6/4/1786, Joice/Joyce [born] 2/2/1788, James [born] 3/24/1790, Thomas [born] 2/2/1792, Betsey [born] 10/6/17-- (illegible), Saley [born] 2/3/17-- (illegible), Polley [born] 2/13/1799, Misseniah [born] 2/17/1801, & Sabra [born] 2/17/1803; widow resided there in 1848; soldier had half brother William L. Powell; query letter in file in 1911 from descendant Hasseltine S. (Mrs. A.R.) Bowdre, Burnley, Virginia. F-W6405, R2477.
