Thomas Stockton
Birth: 1709
Death: May 31, 1795
Mercersburg
Franklin County
Pennsylvania, USA
Thomas Stockton was a son of Robert and Isabel Stockton of Lancaster and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania, and is thought to have been born about 1709. He appears to have lived in or near Chambersburgh, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Thomas died of whooping cough at the home of his son-in-law, William Waddell.
It is possible that Thomas was involved in a land purchase his brother David seems to have made in Albemarle County, Virginia.
Tradition states that Thomas was married to Margaret Fleming, but there does not seem to be any evidence to support this. In 1743 Thomas Stockton and Frances were witnesses to a will, and in 1752 Thomas and Frances are shown on a deed. It is not known if Margaret Fleming was Margaret Frances Fleming.
