13 Feb 1747[/48]: Heirs assent to proving of will. Signed by Zephaniah Smith, Bezeleel Smith, Elijah Smith, Elisabeth Haynes, Samuel Miles and Keziah Miles, Elijah Willis and Abigil Willis, James Brewer and Mary Brewer, Bathsheba Parker and Thomas Parker, Beuben Gibson and Lois Gibson.
15 Feb 1747[/48]: Bond of Elizabeth Smith Widow and Henry Smith Husbandman of Sudbury as executors of will of Mr Thomas Smith late of Sudbury.
15 Feb 1747[/48]: Rev'd John Gardner & Mr Wheeler sworn as witnesses.
15 Feb 1757: Will proved.
[Note: the will is recorded Vol. 27, p. 458, a volume recorded 1752-1756. The only documents recorded are the will and the letters testamentary. If one looked at just the recorded documents, it would appear the will was written 1747 and proved 1757. However, looking at the whole probate file, given three documents using the date 1747[/48], it appears Thomas Smith died before that earlier date. Whether the letters testamentary are dated in error, or languished for 10 years before being issued is unclear, but the first seems most likely. Unfortunately, no inventory, or accounting is present in the file. Elijah Willis who signed the assent, d. before Feb 1756 when administration on his estate was granted to his widow Abigail, so that document could not be dated 1757.]
