"13. Thomas (Skinner) (3) John (2) (1), was born in Hartford, Conn., November 15, 1680, married in Windsor, Conn., July 19, 1705, Sarah, daughter of Samuel and Anna (Filley) Grant. She was born in Windsor, September 2, 1684. He died in East Windsor, March 16, 1761. … He resided in Hartford, probably in the old homestead at 'Rocky Hill,' with his brothers Joseph, Nathaniel, and Richard until about 1704, when he removed to Windsor and settled on the east side of the Connecticut River, in what is now the town of East Windsor. The last record of his being in Hartford was in October, 1702, when he was one of the witnesses to the will of Esther Pratt, his brother John's sister-in-law, … In February, 1722-23, the church records show that he was one of those having seats in the East Windsor Church. … in February, 1738-39, Thomas Skinner, of Windsor, quit-claimed to John Skinner, Jr., of Hartford, 'full sixth part' of a certain piece of land in Hartford containing 8 acres; and in Sept., 1736, and August, 1745, Thomas Skinner, of Windsor, joined with his brothers and other heirs of his father in the sale of land in Hartford."

"From probate records at Hartford, Conn. Will: I, Thomas Skinner, of Windsor, aged. Dated 17 April, 1753, gives to wife Sarah ½ meadow land lying on Conn. River. To eldest son, Thomas, meadow land, granddaughter Sarah mentioned. Son Thomas to have land, he to pay £200 to the children of my only daughter Anna Dec'd. To son Noah my lands in Tolland, land in Windsor, and land in Colebrook. Son Ashbel, land in Colebrook. Son Thomas, executor. (Signed) Thomas Skinner. Witnesses: Joel Loomis, Azariah Long, Abigail Wolcott.

Codicil: Nov. 20, 1757, Noah had died, his share was given to the sons of said Noah and the coming child if a son. Proved May 2, 1761."

"13. Thomas. Some doubt is thrown on the identity of his wife by the fact that Thomas (3) Joseph (2) married Sarah, daughter of Samuel and Grace Grant on July 19, 1705."

  5. Thomas son of Deacon Joseph2 Skinner is not named in his father's will of 13 January 1715/16 nor is a wife or any children indicated. The Hartford land records cited by Mrs. Fernald show that Thomas son of Corporal John2 Skinner was living at least into the 1740's which would indicate that he was the Thomas who married Sarah3 Grant.
