Dr. Thomas Howard Shriner

    Dr. Thomas Howard Shriner. 42. of 17455 S.W. 112 Court. Miami, Fla., and formerly of Cokeburg, died Monday, December 22, 1980.  He was born February 12, 1938. in Charleroi, a son of the late Thomas H. Shriner and Anna      Washlack Shriner of Cokeburg, who survives.  A 1956 graduate of E1Isworth High School, he was a speech scientist in the area of social linguistics and infant language. Dr. Shriner, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps. graduated f     rom California State Teachers Co1lege Magna Cum Laude. He received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. where he also studied for his post-doctoral fe1lowship.  He was a professor at the University of Illinois and a post-doctoral scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was also a professor at the University of Miami. where he was a Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation Scholar. Dr. Shriner published 75 articles and textbooks on infant auditory processing. He was a member of the American Speech and Hearing Society, the Iowa Academy of Speech and Hearing, and Sigma Xi Fraternity. He also was a member of the American Association of University Professors, and was editor of the Journal of Speech and Hearing Research. He lectured at various universities and colleges.  Dr. Shriner is survived by his wife, Jane Nemec Shriner of Miami, Fla.; a daughter, Sherilyn Shriner of Ellsworth; a son, Galen Thomas Shriner of Miami, Fla.; a granddaughter, Tauna Leigh Wilson  of Ellsworth; four sisters: Shirley, wife of Kenneth McCombs of Eighty Four, Mary, wife of James 'Gorby of Cokeburg, Carol, wife of James Olson of Eighty Four, and Anna May, wife of Michael Horn of Melbourne, Fla.; and two brothers, Richard S1triner of Coke- burg and Joseph    Shriner   of Bentleyville.  Deceased are one son and his father, Thomas H. Shriner, Sr. who died June 24.1970.
