Death Claims Eel Trustee T. L Schull
Eel Township Trustee Thomas L. Schull, 66, of 3422 Tomlinson Dr., died at 10 p.m. Sunday at the St. Joseph hospital after an illness of only a few days.. He was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning. A movie projectionist here for 50 years, he had been township trustee' more than eight years. He was first appointed to the position Jan. 11, 1961,'by the
county commissioners after Trustee Jean Nicholas resigned to become manager of the local auto license branch. A Democrat, he was then elected to the office in 1962 and re-elected in 1966. His present term would have expired Dec.31, 1970, Mr. Schull was only 15 years of age when he began work as a projectionist for the old Grand theatre on Market Street in 1917. He then was employed by the Ark theatre and installed Logansport's first movie sound equipment in the Paramount theatre on Fifth Street. Two months after the Logan theatre opened he was employed there, remaining with that theatre 35 years. After it closed, he was employed by the State theatre until 1967.
Born Oct. 12, 1902, at Goodland to Thomas and Laura Buck Schull, he was married June 17, 1925, to Genevieve Snyder. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employes and Motion Picture Machine Operatorsof the United States and Canada, local 148, for which he served as business agent for many years.
Surviving are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Joan Scherer, Rt. 6, city; and Mrs. Barbara Ellen Wolfe, 3618 Tomlinson Dr., city; a sister, Mrs. Isabelle Moore, Lima, Ohio; and six grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from St. Vincent de Paul Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John P. Schall officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kroeger, Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Monday.
