"9. Thomas3 Porter (Thomas,2 Richard1) was born at Weymouth, 3 Feb. 1672-73; died at Taunton, 1753. He married, near 1695, Abigail Holbrook, daughter of John and Abigail (Pierce) Holbrook, born at Weymouth, 11 May, 1675. Capt. John Holbrook, by his will made 12 July, 1699, gave his granddaughter Abigail Porter £10. Thomas Porter removed from Weymouth to Taunton, about 1701."

"Thomas3 Porter, b. Weymouth, 3 Feb. 1671/2 [1672/73]; d. ca. 1748, Taunton, Mass.; m. ca. 1695 at Weymouth, Abigail Holbrook, daughter of John and Abigail (Pierce) Holbrook. He was a cordwainer, bought land in Taunton in 1701, and probably moved there from Weymouth soon afterward. On 28 Feb. 1714/5, a Thomas Porter, probably he, signed the petition for a separate parish at 'Lebanon Crank,' later Columbia, Connecticut, and in 1715 he made the first of a number of land purchases in the Chestnut Hill section there. Although four of his sons and one daughter moved to Lebanon around 1720, there is no definite record that he ever moved there from Taunton. About 1737 he divided most of his land among the three sons remaining in Lebanon, and in 1744 he sold the remaining portion to his son Thomas and his son-in-law Abiel Fuller. The deeds of these transactions leave no doubt of the relationships described in this article. A deed dated 10 Sept. 1748, refers to him as deceased."
