Facts and Events
Moved upto Nottingham about 1922. It is reckoned he came up to Nottingham with the Boys Brigade. everyone called him TP. He was a staunch socialist all his life; he was a member of the Communist Party in his 20's. Rumour goes that his grandad ( now know to be James T. L Parsons) was also a bit of a maverick and was jailed for his political beliefs and inciting a dockers riot; he was also rumoured to have gone to sea for a while and been on the building of the trans Canadian express. TP was adopted, it appears by his Aunt Annie Parsons, who married Charles Ribbons. Tom moved up from Kent around 1922 and married my gran Elsie 30.7.1927 at St Judes, Nottingham. He never did return to London or Kent to live, and stayed in Nottingham till his death in 1907. Vera reckons he came up to Nottingham with the Boys Brigade. Apparently various relatives came up from London to visit, so the family weren't estranged. Dad remembers his Uncle Ernest who had a London accent and wore spatts. Annie Ribbons was apparently very religious, but very nice. Charles however, was an alcoholic and drank away his business (that's the story anyway). By the way, Uncle Bill (William) died last year of a heart attack (he lived in Canada) and Jack died about 1999 (I'll need to check that one); he owned a pub in Saxilby called the Sun Inn.
