BURLINGAME- Thomas F. McMorran, 88, Burlingame, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at a Topeka Hospital. He was born January 27, 1920, at Burlingame, the son of William and Gertrude "Doll" Thorne Pierce, he was adopted by Harry T. McMorran when he was three years old.
He attended the Burlingame schools, and served in the US Navy for four years during WW II. He retired from the Bridge and Building Gang of the Santa Fe Railway after 39 years of service. He later worked as the maintenance supervisor of the Santa Fe Trail Nursing Center, at Burlingame for 20 years. He was a life member of Corinthian Lodge No. 79, A.F. & A.M., Burlingame, and the Edward "Ted" Rowe VFW Post No. 2709, Scranton.
He married Ellen Lou Abney, April 19, 1947, at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include, a daughter, Connie Mae Bonczkowski, Burlingame; three grandsons, Scott Bonczkowski, and his wife Becky, and their children, Charlee and Laney, Topeka; Chad Bonczkowski, and his wife Carolyn, and their children, Cody Bonczkowski, Brandi and Corey Harris, Burlingame; Ryan Bonczkowski, and his wife Stacey, and their children, Harper and Emily, Emporia.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Burlingame Federated Church. Burial will be in Burlingame Cemetery. Mr. McMorran will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where family visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burlingame First Responders or Corinthian Lodge No. 79, A.F. & A.M., and sent % the funeral home, P.O.
