- Caution: online trees, including FamilySearch, list his birth year as 1845, but the guardianship bond states he is the son of Sarah, who married his father in 1846 (sourced), and the 1850 census also indicates a birth year around 1848.

Thomas V. McConnell, druggist, P. O., Slater. Mr. T. V. McConnell has recently moved to Slater, in the winter of 1881, and established a drug store, and carries one of the finest and fullest stocks of drugs, medicines, paints, oils, etc., etc., in the city. The store is elegantly arranged, and attractive in appearance. Mr. McConnell is an old druggist, having been in the business for over twenty years, in Chicago, St. Louis, and in Frankford, Pike county, Missouri, from which last place he moved to Slater. He has had all the advantages to be obtained in the large cities in perfecting the necessary knowledge of his profession.
