HIS INDENTURE made betwixt JAMES ELKINS of Richmond County of one party and THOMAS JEFFEREYS of aforesd. County of the other party; Wittnesseth that JAMES ELKINS hath demised sett and to farm lett and doth by these presents farme lett part of one hundred acres of land lying in the aforesaid County which was given to me by my Grandfather, EVAN WILLIAMS, in consideration of the rents hereafter mentioned and dureing the terme of two naturall lives of the aforesd. THOMAS JEFFEREYS and SYLENT JEFFEREYS his Wife or longest liver of them together with all the edificies woods and ye tract of land and I the said JAMES ELKINS do give said THOMAS JEFFEREYS leave to seat upon any part or parcell of the said Land onely the Plantation excepted whereon I now live and I the said THOMAS JEFFEREYS do oblige my selfe not to sell nor make no waste of any Timber; To have & to hold the parcell of land with all the appurtenances to said THOMAS JEFFEREYS and SYLENT his Wife dureing their natural! lives paying a yearly rent upon the Twentieth of October Ten pounds of good sound Leafe Tobbo: and one Capon Cock or Pullett to said JAMES ELKINS his heirs and THOMAS JEFFEREYS his Wife to enjoy the said Land peaceably and quietly wth:out the disturbance of me said JAMES ELKINS or my heirs or any person that shall lay any clayme to the said land, As Wittness whereof we have sett our hands and fin our seales the day and yeare above written

Will of Thomas Jeffries

In Name of God Amen I THOMAS JEFFRIRE of Stafford Co. in Overwharton Parish being Sick -- etc. -- Item I give unto my SON NATHANIEL JEFFRIRE the Land & Plantation whereon I now live (HIS MOTHER HAVING HER LIFE WHOLLY IN IT) & after her decease Nathaniel to allow unto his TWO BROTHERS JAMES JEFFRIRE and THOMAS JEFFRIRE 2000 lbs. of TOBACCO UNTO EACH OF THEM (which said Land I give to my Son Nathaniel & his heirs for ever).
Item I give unto my DAUGHTERS ANN JEFFRIRE, KATHERINE JEFFRIRE, SILENT JEFFRIRE & ELIZABETH JEFFRIRE one Cow & Calf unto each of them at the day of Marriage & 500 pounds of Tobo to be paid unto each of them at the day of Marriage. Item I give unto my Son Nathal Jeffrire my hunting gun.,
Item I give unto my Son Jas. Jeffrire one gun.
Item I give unto my Son Thos. Jeffrire all my Smith's tools when he shall arrive to the age of 21.
Item I do order that my Sons Nathl., Jas. & Thos. Jeffrire shall abide with their Mother untill they shall arrive to the age of 21 years provisor she do not marry if in case she should marry then my Sons Nathl., Jas. & Thos. to be for themselves at the age of 18 years.
Item I give all the rest of my personal Estate to MY BELOVED WIFE SILENT JEFFRIRE (after Debts being paid) this my Last Will & Testament I make my beloved Wife Silent Jeffrirre my Exex & MY FRIEND RICHARD BRYAN my Exor of this my LW&T & do make void all former wills .. this 19th day March 1732/3 further it is my will that all my wearing cloase to be equally divided between my two Sons Nathl. & Jas..

We the Subscribers appointed to set apart the Estate of THOMAS JEFRIRE between the Widow and the Orphans we find for ANN JEFRIRE, CATHERINE JEFRIRE, SILENT JEFRIRE & ELIZABETH JEFRIRE one cow and calf for each of them an done five hundred pounds of Tobacco for each of them and the Smith?s tools left to the Orphan THOS. JEFRIRE being before valued to five pounds seventeen shillings and six pence currt money we find for the said orphan the (same) .. August the 7th 1736.
