    "Hurlbut, Thomas, s. of Thomas 1st.

    Born at Wethersfield in 1650/1, d. at Fairfield in 1697. Blacksmith; received land for shop from father, 1671; bought from Thomas Williams 1673, and from William Hills, Jr., and wife, 1676.

    With his brother Joseph he removed to Woodbury, about 1678, and not long before his death settled in Fairfield, where he bought from Josiah Harvey, 27 Mar. 1690. The will of Francis Brown of Rye, dated 5 Feb. 1685 [1685/6], recorded 6 Nov. 1686, mentioned his son Thomas Hollibird. His wife was Mary Brown, b. abt. 1655.

    Thomas 'Halliberth', the jailkeeper at Fairfield, ae. 41, testified June 1692 in Disbrow trial.

    Inv. taken by John Bulkley and John Edwards exhibited 2 Nov. 1697. Samuel Couch to take estate into his hands and secure it. Mr. John Edwards appointed, 5 Dec. 1698, to reckon with the debtors. Elijah, son of Thomas, chose brother Gideon guardian, 1 Dec. 1714.

    On 9 Feb. 1725/6, Thomas, Gideon, and Elijah Hurlbut, Samuel Couch and Edrei his wife, and John Blackman and Jemima his wife, all of Fairfield, and Ebenezer Mead and Kezia his wife of Bedford, Westchester County, N. Y., conveyed land, in Woodbury, calling themselves sons and daus. of Thomas Hurlbut of Woodbury dec'd."
