    WALKER
    Thomas Goodwin, s.Mary, [born] Nov. 28, 1727.
[Note: experienced readers of vital records would recognize specifying a child of the mother is a sign of a posthumous birth to a widow, or an illegitimate child. In this case, it is the latter, and the child is obviously named after the father, Mr. Goodwin. Walker is not part of his name. He is probably the Thomas Goodwin who m. 1754 Mary Ditson, for whom Hazen has no lineage. This is made clearer by consulting the original record which says:
John Walker & Mary Frost both of Billerica, entered into a Covenant of marriage [???] 29 05 1707 [28 Jul 1707]
    Mary their daughter was borne 20 01 1707/8 [20 Mar 1707/08]
    ...
Thomas Goodwin son of Mary Walker was borne November 28: 1727.
John died in 1753 so clearly his wife was not a widow in 1727, and he only mentioned two children in his will (Joseph and Mary), and the daughter Mary is the perfect age to have an illegitimate child. Recording the birth in the family register of the parents of the mother, instead of in a family register with her husband, is a clear indication that she was not married when the child was born.]
