1) Thomas Gleaves1789 –February 16, 1831“Thomas GLAVES”is the first child listed in Michael Glaves’ will. Thomas had an older cousin with the same name who also lived in the Davidson County area. The other Thomas (1771-1849) was the son of his uncle, William Gleaves. The identical names and overlapping life spans make it difficult to positively identify specific records to this subject. In several cases, Thomas 99identifies himself as“Thomas Gleaves Jr.”in what was a fairly common practice, in an effort to differentiate himself from his older cousin.
