Thomas2 Ensign … was baptized at Biddenden, co. Kent, on 26 March 1634. He was buried at Cranbrook, co. Kent, on 9 March 1657/8, as Thomas Ensigne of Whitewell, husbandman, son of Thomas Ensigne of Little Swift, clothier. (The Cranbrook register is unusual in that it includes the parentage of most people buried during this period. This record does not indicate that his father was then living at "Little Swifte," Cranbrook, but that he had lived there earlier; indeed, Thomas2 Ensign's will makes it clear that his father was in New England when he executed that document.
