Facts and Events
"He was a Rev. Soldier and witnessed the execution of Major Andre. He came to Otisfield before 1790 and settled on lot 15 range 4, Phillips Gore, and built a log house on the east end of the lot about opposite from the Samuel Wardwell house....Mr. Edes was a chairmaker by trade and after his settlement on the Gore made chairs for the inhabitants of the town, mostly straight backed kitchen chairs, bottomed with elm bark twisted into a rope, which for durability comfort and economy, have never been excelled since his time. The last years of his life he lived with his son Emery at Edes Falls and is buried in the cemetery near there." -A history of Otisfield, Cumberland County, Maine from the original grant to the close of the year 1944 References
