Thomas Hearson was baptised on 29th December 1768 at Great Hale in Lincolnshire, son of a labourer named Thomas Hearson and his wife Elizabeth.

On 31st July 1797, aged 28, Thomas married a Rebecca Ward. They went on to have two daughters baptised at Great Hale in 1801 and 1803. Both girls' baptisms described Thomas as being a gardener.

Thomas is recorded in an 1823 poll book as having been a freeholder and voting in a by-election. He voted for Sir John Hayford Thorold, who was the unsuccessful candidate, being beaten by Sir William Amcotts Ingilby. Thomas was described in the poll book as a labourer.

The 1841 census finds Thomas and Rebecca living at 'Lease' - presumably the road now called Leas Road on the eastern edge of the village. Rebecca died in 1848, aged 73. Thomas outlived her by nearly eight years, appearing in the 1851 census at 'East Street' - possibly another former name for Leas Road.

Thomas was buried at Great Hale on 11th November 1855, aged 86. He was described as a pauper at the time of his burial.
