GEORGE DOCKING son of John Hocking and Esther Barcham was born 31 October 1819 in County Buttons, Suffolk, United Kingdom, and died 30 May 1858 in Victoria. He married FRANCES STEPHENS 25 October 1845 in Watlington Parish Church, England. She was born 19 September 1819 in Alilswell, Norfolk, United Kingdom, and died 19 September 1907.

Notes for GEORGE DOCKING: At the age of thirty one years, George and his wife Frances, migrated to Australia with children, Thomas 5, George 3, and Sarah 1. On 11th November 1851 they left Plymouth aboard the 'Caucasion' bound for Adelaide, South Australia arriving on the 8th of February 1852.

It is thought that George travelled to Melbourne, Victoria alone at first since their forth child, Mary was born in Adelaide. There is a record in the Adelaide Archives of a Mr. Docking (Deokin) arriving in Adelaide from Melbourne aboard the 'Selma' on the 13th June 1852, which was three days before Mary was born.

The family settled in Victoria at Sandon near Castlemaine where William and Martha were born.
