    "Thomas (Curtis), b. 1598., an early sett. here, where his eld. ch. was b. 1639; had a cattle ear-mark recorded (W. T. V.), in 1653; was relieved by an order of the Gen. Ct., 21 May, 1657, from training, watching and warding; he d. 13 Nov.. 1681, ae. 83 [Savage is in error in saying that he was at Wallingford, Ct., in 1670; evidence to that effect is lacking. The Wallingford Curtis is that of Richard, previously of Dorchester, Mass.], in Htfd., a man of good reputation and large estate (See Chapt. VII, Vol. I.) am'g acc. to invent. taken 9 Dec, 1681, by Nath'l Boreman, Samuel Butler and Wm. Warner, to £717-13-09; adm'n gr. to his sons, John, Joseph and James, and Mr. Kimberly; his s. Samuel having rec'd his portion by deed, before his father's dth. His ch. agreed to a division of the est. which was made by Lieut. James Treat, Stephen Chester and Mr. Samuel Wolcott, under a decree of the Prob. Ct., dated 2 Mch., 1681-2. His wife's name was Elizabeth _____. There is a fam. trad.—unsupported by any rec—that he was a physician."

    Curtice, Thomas, Wethersfield. Died 13 November, 1681. Invt. £717-13-09. Taken 9 December, 1681, by Nathaniel Borman, Samuel Butler, William Warner. The children: John, James, Joseph, Samuel & Isaac Curtice, Ruth Kimberly, Elizabeth Stoddor. The distribution followeth:

    Page 72—6 March, 1681 (2): The distribution of the Estate of Thomas Curtice of Wethersfield, Joyntly Consented to by all his children & witnessed by their subscribing: Imprs. To John Curtice (who hath formerly received in houseing & Land £123), fifty seven pounds. Samuel Curtice haveing all ready received his full portion by deed of gift from his father, the remaynder of the Inventoryed Estate to be equally divided to James Curtice, Joseph, Isaac, Ruth and Elizabeth, to each of them an equal proportion, what Joseph, Ruth & Elizabeth have Formerly received being first added to the sume totall of the Inventory, which doth amount to Thirty seven pownds. And it is further Consented to by the sayd Children, that in consideration of the service that Joseph Curtice & his wife have done for their father during his life, there shall be soe much added to his portion as will make it up £140 with the £4 that he hath formerly received, which addition shall be equally deducted from the portions of the other children according to what they have & shall receive, Samuel excepted.
