Facts and Events
Thomas Cox was baptised on 24th November 1765 at Apethorpe in Northamptonshire, son of Mary Cox, formerly Roberts, and her husband Robert Cox, a farrier.
Thomas's mother died in 1798 and his father died in 1803.
Thomas acted as executor for his sister Elizabeth's will in 1835. She had never married, and was living in Fotheringhay when she wrote her will, which was the same village Thomas was living in at the time of the 1841 census, suggesting they may have been living together. The 1841 census describes Thomas as being a blacksmith. He had a young journeyman blacksmith living with him and a female servant.
Thomas wrote his will on 10th February 1844, leaving his estate to be split amongst the children and grandchildren of his brother Robert, who was a blacksmith at nearby Wansford, and one of the daughters of his late brother Matthew, who had been a blacksmith at Apethorpe. Thomas also expressed a wish to be buried back at Apethorpe amongst his relations if room could be found. He died eleven days after writing his will, on 21st February 1844, aged 78.
