Rockbridge County, VA Marriage Bonds, 1803. Thomas Conner and Elizabeth Standoff, 20 December 1803. Submitted by: Clyde F. Conner, Sr. <connercj@.cfw.com> "Know all men by these presents that we, Thomas Conner, Dennes Connor, and John Standoff of Rockbridge, are held and firmly bound to John Poague, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia or his successors in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Witness our hands and seals this 20th day of December, 1803. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Thomas Conner and Elizabeth Standoff, daughter of said John Standoff. If therefore there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the same then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force."
