Facts and Events
Thomas Cleary was baptised on 22nd December 1850 at Monasterevin in County Kildare, son of a blacksmith named Maurice Cleary and his wife Alice (known as Ally) Dunne.
Thomas never married. He lived at Skirteen, where his father had had his smithy. Thomas also became a blacksmith, and appears to have taken his father's business over. His sister Eliza also never married they lived together at Skirteen. In 1898 their sister Bridget Doyle died in Dublin, leaving three surviving sons aged between about eight and newborn. The three boys moved out to Monasterevin to live with Thomas and Eliza. The boys' father, Thomas Doyle, later moved out to join them after retiring from his work as a policeman, appearing with them at Skirteen in the 1911 census.
Thomas died at Skirteen on 3rd October 1921, aged 70. His nephew Maurice Doyle was the informant for his death.
