Thomas Chapman left a will dated 25 Oct. 1852, probated 7 Nov. 1853
(Taliaferro County, GA Will Rec. A, pp. 228-231) His will names wife Sarah,
son Nathan and Nathan’s daughter Elizabeth, son William H. Chapman and his
children, daughter Nancy Reynolds and her “afflicted” daughter George Ann,
and son James R. Chapman. The executors were son William H. Chapman and
Alexander H. Stephens.

OBITUARY
Died at his residence, in Taliaferro county, on the night of the 18th
instant, Mr. Thomas Chapman, age 64 years.
The deceased was a worthy, good citizen and a most excellent man. In
all his dealings with the world, he was scrupulously exact and honest.
He left a disconsolate widow and several children and grand-children,
besides numerous friends, to mourn his loss.
(Note that the above obituary states that Thomas died Oct. 18th but Wiley
Jones’cemetery book shows he died Oct. 12.)
