'Thomas Bulkeley was steward for Drayton Manor in Shropshire for Sir Rowland Hyll (d. 1561) of Hawkstone Park, a kinsman of Thomas' grandfather, William Hyll (d. 1561) of Drayton in Hales. William Hyll in his 1561 will ... makes his kinsman Sir Rowland Hyll one of the overseers of his estate.

'In 1551 Thomas Bulkeley, gent. leased the vill of Tunstall, which was part of the Manor of Betton in Hales, from Sir Rowland Hyll, and in 1586 was still in possession of some meadows and woodland of it after it had passed to Ralph Thycknes. In his 1591 will Thomas Bulkeley requested "My Bodie to be buryed in the Chappel called our Ladie Chappel in Drayton Church." '[3]
