Register, 16:161; his large estate inventoried at almost £1,000, so he was a wealthy man for that period. For genealogy, see ibid., 25:21."

    "Thomas Bird.—I, Thomas Bird, Senir, of Dorchester, in ye County of Suffolk in New England, Tanner, being by ye p’udence of God not well in my body, yet through ye mercy of God in p’fit memory, make my last will & Testament vnless I shall see Cause heerafter to alter it. My will is, that all my Just depts be paid & funerall discharged. My will is, that Ann, my wife, haue one Third p'tof all my housing & land duering her life. For ye rest of my Estate I giue one third pt thereoff vnto my wife wholly to be at her owne dispossall as God shall moue her hart. My will is yt yeother two third pts of my Estate be deuided as Followeth, viz: Wheeras I p'mised my sonne Thomas, at his marrige fifty pounds, of wch a good ptis paid, as by my booke will appeare, then (that fifty pounds being accounted as py of ye Estate) ye estate shalbe equally deuided to my Fower Children, viz: 'Thomas, John, James & Sarah, only my Sonne, Thomas, shall haue ten pounds added to his pt more then any one of ye rest of my Children. For that third pt of my houseing & land wch I leaue in my wiues hands duering her life, my will is, that when it shall please God to put an end vnto her days that then that houseing & land shal be equally deuided vnto my three sonns; but if either of them dy & leaue not Isue, then this pt shall goe equally to those that doe suruiue. I appoiut Anne, my wife, to be execetrix of my wholl Estate. I appoint my loving freinds Liftenant Hopeslill Foster & Ensigne John Capen to be ouerseers. 12th July, 1666.

'The prsons yt prized ye stock in tanning, John Gurnell, Henry Bridgham.'
