DANIELS, Tamar [dup. Danill], d. Joseph and Bethiah, (born) Mar. 7, 17 [worn].
[Note: the original doesn't appear to be online. The town copy, Births, p. 2,has:
"Tamar Daniels daughter of Joseph & Bethiah his wife was born March 7th 17 (original record illegible)"
"Abigail Daniels daughter of Joseph Daniels & Bethiah his wife was born March 15th 1715"
Secondary sources appear to have chosen to interpret this as 1717 (e.g., Morse, p. 71; Cutter, Vol. 3, p. 1157), however, the order in which the records are written, as well as spacing of siblings, as well as the fact that both births seem to be recorded with births about 1715, suggest Tamar was born before Abigail, not after. Some online websites suggest Tamer m. 1733 John Metcalf and d. 1817 at various ages near 100, but the death record has not been located. The marriage date would favor an earlier date, but the death would favor 1717, but both the parentage of the bride, and the asserted death, need confirmation by actual evidence.
Incidentally, the town copy has such an exaggerated lip on the 7 that it could be interpreted as 17 as Cutter did, but comparison with the various examples of "17' found in the years written on this page suggest it is just 7 as shown in the vital records.]
