SYLVESTER W. BOYD

CRESWELL, Dec. 27 - (Special)–Sylvester W. Boyd, 86, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lester Childs, in Medford, Dec. 25. He was born in Martinsville, Ohio, Oct. 5, 1851, moved to Oregon from Louisiana in 1902 and lived in Cottage Grove from 1907 to 1931. He was married in 1881 to Mary Levina Thomas, who died in January, 1916.

Mr. Boyd was a member of the Christian church and of the I.O.O.F. lodge of cottage Grove. He is survived bu two sons, Clarence B. of Eugene, and George B. of Salem; three daughters, Mrs. Susan Eads, Mrs. Irle Groves and Mrs. Childs, all of Medford, and Mrs. Edna Haymond of Clay (illegible) and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Schwering chapel at Cottage Grove Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. (illegible) Coulter in charge. The I.O.O.F. lodge will have charge of the graveside services. Burial will be at the I.O.O.f. cemetery in Cottage Grove.
