Obituary CANFIELD PIONEER TAKEN BY DEATH Sylvanus Porter, lifelong resident of Canfield, died at 1 o'clock Thursday morning in his home after a five weeks' illness of a complication of diseases. Mr. Porter had been in failing helath for the past fourteen years. The deceased was born October 7, 1944, in Canfield, where he spent his entire lifetime. He was the son of John and Rachel Williams Porter. Nearly all of his days had been devoted to the pursuit and study of agriculture, but of recent years he had been retired. Surviving him are his wife Lucinda Corll Porter, who he married Aug. 11, 1870; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth May Neff, and one brother, A.S. Porter who resides in Canfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the late residence. Interment will be made in the Zion cemetery at North Canfield. Friends are asked not to send flowers.
