  3. The parentage of Sybil is indicated by several pieces of circumstantial evidence:
Banister Maynard was appointed guardian of the children of her first marriage.
In the probate of her second husband in 1839, Gilman Johnson of Templeton, she indicated there was a child less than 2 years old, suggesting she was several years younger than her first husband b. 1790, but not much after 1800 based on her 1817 first marriage.
In 1850 census Sybil Johnson, age 50 (i.e., born 1800), is living in Templeton with Ruth Maynard, 15 years older. Too young to be a mother, so presumed to be a sister, and such a daughter is found in Banister Maynard's family.
  4. A woman named Sybil Johnson d. Nashua, NH, in 1855, aged 55 (here). This would be a good match to the woman of this page, but as no other identifying information is given (i.e., husband's or parents' names, previous residence, etc.), we cannot say conclusively it is her.
