"The date of [William's] marriage is not known, nor who his wife was, except that she had a sister Sarah Fruen" as shown by William's testimony mentioning "my wives Sister Sara fruen". His widow Susanna Goodwin m. about Aug 1691 John Shepard of Hartford.
[That this source both presents evidence that her sister is Sarah Fruen and then says her names is unknown is confusing. Susannah's will appears to treat the children as natural, making it unlikely these two data (testimony and widow's remarriage) apply to different wives, and since the testimony regarding Sarah Fruen is in regards to Sarah's being engaged to an underage man, Thomas Greenhill, it would suggest Sarah had not been married before, and Fruen was her maiden name. So the reluctance to even suggest the obvious conclusion that Susanna was probably Susanna Fruen seems strange.]
