Susan Munn was baptised on 10th December 1837 at Caddington in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw plaiter called Elizabeth Munn, formerly Bunyan, and her husband John Munn, an agricultural labourer. At the time of Susan's baptism the family's lived at The Green, in the centre of Caddington village. The 1841 census finds Susan living with her parents and siblings in the part of Caddington which at that time fell in Hertfordshire. By 1851 Susan was working as a straw plaiter.

On 13th January 1859, aged 21, Susan married Thomas King at Caddington. They went on to have four children together between 1859 and 1866. The 1861 census finds them living in Caddington, with Susan working as a bonnet sewer.

Susan and Thomas's second child died in 1865, aged three.

Susan died in 1866, either giving birth to her fourth child, Thomas, or shortly afterwards; his birth and her death were both registered in the April to June quarter of that year. She was 28 years old. Baby Thomas did not long outlive his mother, dying in the September.

Susan's husband Thomas survived her by 44 years.

    b. Susan MUNN, December Quarter 1837, Luton Registration District, Volume 6, page 74, mother's maiden name Bingham

Susan's mother's maiden name is presumably a mistranscription or mishearing of Bunyan - John Munn and Elizabeth Bunyan had married at Caddington in 1826, Susan's younger sister Sarah's birth record gives her mother's maiden name as Bunyan, and no Munn / Bingham couple can be found.
