"69 Stiles Steevens (Jonathan18, Thomas3, John1), born Killingworth, Conn., June 26, 1723. … He lived in Killingworth till his last marriage. The last trace of him in the Killingworth records is in 1769, when he deeds certain tracts of land to various parties. He probably moved to Saybrooke or some other place. No record of his death appears. In 1770 Chloe Steevens deeds a parcel of land, 'being all of my right in a tract of land set out to me and my brother from the estate of our honored grandfather, Gideon Wellman.'"

  2. This man is called "Miles" in the Killingworth records of his first two marriages. Elsewhere, he is called "Stiles." Since his mother was Deborah Stiles, it is virtually certain that his baptismal name is "Stiles."
