Glasgow, Stewart of Hanna City; he married Haddassah Wiley who died in 1893. He died 22 August 1904 and was buried in the Smithville cemetery. :He was survived by a son John and 3 other sons and 2 daughters and a brother Samuel who was 90 years old. (abridged by genealogy society)
The Monmouth Review of 24 August 1904 has his obituary from the Peoria Herald Transcript. Stewart Glasgow of Hanna City, Illinois, father of John W. Glasgow of Fredonia avenue in Peoria is no more. He was one of the pioneers of the county and for the past fourteen years had resided with his son at Hanna City. The interment was at Smithville, Illinois. The death of Stewart Glasgow Monday removed from the field of action one of the few remaining pioneers of the county. For many years, he was ill at his residence of his son William E. at Hanna City aand his suffering in his declining days was lessened by the kindly acts of friends and acquaintances in this most hospitable part of the county. . The deceased too up residence in Peoria county in the late forties, removing to the county with his family from Adams county, Ohio, where he was born and reared. He was united in marriage in 1854 with Hadassah J. Wiley who also removed to Hanna City from Piqua, Ohio and whose death preceded his, occuring in January of 1893. The immediate relatives and family who survive him are his brother Samuel Steel Glasgow who had attained his 90th year, his daughter Rosa B. Patton and his son William G. Glasgow of Hanna City. His daughter Sarah E. Patton and sons S. Finley Glasgow and Dr. Harry J. Glasgow of Fresno, California and his son John W. Glasgow of Fredonia Avenue in Peoria. He was one of the founders and charter members of Bethel congregation, United Presbyterian church, near Hanna City, of which he had been the ruling elder for the past thirty two years. During the years 1883 to 1890, he resided temporarily in Monmouth with his family for the purpose of enjoying educational facilities
