STEPHEN PLANTINGA Obituary Stephen R. Plantinga SCHERERVILLE, IN - Stephen R. Plantinga age 76, of Schererville, IN passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on November 1st, 2018. Steve was a lifetime resident of the calumet region previously residing in Munster and graduate of Hammond High School, class of 1959. Steve was President and CEO of Great Lakes Industries and later Great Lakes Sales. Beloved husband of Georgia Plantinga (nee Samblis), they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a surprise party at BRCC hosted by their two children. Loving father of Scott (Antoinette) Plantinga, Huntington Beach, CA and Dr. Michelle (Shane) Oakley of Yukon Canada. Devoted grandfather of seven: Austin, Brock, Dylan and Jaden Plantinga and Sierra, Maya and Willow Oakley. He is survived by five siblings including Tom and Bill Plantinga, Melissa (Bob) Liedl, Suzanne Plantinga and Julie Canada. Steve loved boating, fishing and was a licensed charter boat captain. He was an avid golfer and member of Briar Ridge Country Club for over 25 years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Calumet (www.hospicecalument.org).
