Stephen J. Nedoroscik, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28th after a period of decling health. His family and friends were consistently by his side providing comfort and support.

Stephen is predeceased by his wife, Jane R. (Chojnacka) Nedoroscik “Sunshine”, two daughters, Christine Buckley and Stephanie Szafarowicz, a grandson, David and a granddaughter, Sabrina. He leaves a son, John Nedoroscik and his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Jane Gervais, Catherine Iwanow and her partner, James Helger; and his loving grandchildren, Stephanie, Stephen G. and his wife, Kellie, Kathryn Shead and her husband, Benjamin, Christopher, Robert, James and his partner Caitlyn, Samantha, Anastasia and Stephen J.; and 14 great grandchildren.

Stephen was born and raised in Douglas, son of Susan (Zelonka) and John Nedoroscik. He was one of 11 children and is survived by his sisters, Francis, Susan, and Joanie; and many many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He graduated from Douglas High School and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Stephen was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II and the war in Korea. He is a member of the Greatest Generation, and at the age of 17 proudly served his country during the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. Stephen was on the LST 325 which was later recommissioned as a floating memorial in September of 2011. Stephen had the privilege to attend the event in Mobile Alabama with his family and crewmates.

After serving in the Navy, he worked for Wyman Gordon as a Metallurgist before retiring in 1988. During his retirement years, he and his “Sunshine” liked to travel, go to the casino, and of course spend time with his family. He often told his family that his greatest achievement was his family and that he was proud of each and every one of them.

Stephen was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of Raceway golf course in Thompson CT. When he wasn’t golfing, he was looking for golf balls which he shared with his family and friends. His last round of golf was played in October of 2022 with his children. He was a great cribbage player and liked a good game of Pokeno. In his spare time he liked to fish, cook, look for wild mushrooms and garden. He was a jack of all trades; always had a story or a joke, and these will all be missed.

Family and friends are invited to remember Stephen’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday, April 2nd from 3 to 6 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury, MA. His funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, April 3rd at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
